Job Vacancy: Painter & Decorator (6 Month Temporary Contract)

Location: Bromley Park Care Home in Beckenham, South East London BR3 5PA

Contract: Fixed Term contract of 6 months.

Hourly rate of pay: To be discussed depending on experience and qualifications

The perfect role for you

With experience in decorating, you will enjoy working independently and as part of the wider maintenance team within the Care Home. This role will require you to maintain and enhance the care home’s environment by carrying out decorating tasks to a high standard, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and comfortable space for residents, staff, and visitors.

You will have the opportunity to excel whilst:

The Decorator's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensuring the residents’ rights are protected and their privacy and dignity are maintained when working in their vicinity.
  • Prepare surfaces (walls, ceilings, woodwork) for painting or wallpapering, including sanding, filling, and priming.
  • Apply paint, varnish, and other finishes using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Carry out minor repairs related to decorating (e.g., patching plaster, sealing gaps).
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, particularly in a care setting.
  • Protect furniture, flooring, and resident areas during work.
  • Maintain a tidy and safe workspace at all times.
  • Knowledge of safe working practices and COSHH regulations.
  • Liaise with the Maintenance / Home Manager to prioritize decorating tasks and meet deadlines.
