Field Engineer – Splicing / Test, Rod & Rope - England (Field-Based) – Permanent – Up to £35,000 + Car + Fuel + Benefits

Overview

Fuel Recruitment is working with a leading telecoms infrastructure provider seeking a Field Engineer to join their growing team. This is a field-based role covering sites across England, supporting the delivery of fibre network build and maintenance projects. The position combines Test, Rod & Rope (TRR) activities with fibre splicing duties, ensuring routes are prepared, tested, and networks are installed to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out duct rodding and roping activities to confirm continuity and identify blockages.
  • Install draw ropes and sub-ducts to prepare routes for cabling.
  • Perform duct and chamber integrity testing for fibre installation suitability.
  • Conduct fusion splicing, termination, and fibre management to approved technical specifications.
  • Prepare, install, and secure fibre cables in joint enclosures, cabinets, and nodes.
  • Perform OTDR, power meter, and end-to-end testing; analyse results and ensure network performance meets design criteria.
  • Produce accurate splice records, test results, and as-built documentation using digital tools.
