Role Purpose: Reporting to the Head of Product, Supply Chain & Fulfilment, the Technology Project Manager is accountable for driving the successful delivery of technology initiatives across our supply chain, logistics and customer service operations. This role will ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and deliver value to our business and customers. The project manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders across B&Q and Kingfisher Technology, as well as our external vendors to translate business needs into actionable project plans, manage risks and dependencies, leading initiatives through to delivery.
Responsibilities
- Define, shape, and scope project requirements in collaboration with stakeholders and product teams (where applicable).
- Develop and secure approval for business cases, working closely with sponsors, business project managers and technology delivery teams.
- Oversee the day-to-day management of one or more concurrent project workstreams, ensuring effective planning, forecasting, milestone tracking, status reporting, and budget management.
- Coordinate with IT teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors throughout the project lifecycle to deliver upgrades, rollouts, deployments, or other technology initiatives.
- Ensure deliverables align with customer expectations by supporting requirements gathering, sign-off, and testing activities.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and scope changes, ensuring timely resolution.
- Communicate project status, progress, and key updates to relevant stakeholders, providing clear insights to aid decision-making.
- Clearly define and communicate roles and responsibilities within the project team, leading and motivating the team to achieve project goals.
- Ensure all solutions delivered are fit for purpose, supportable, and meet agreed standards.
- Operate within established governance frameworks, managing project finances and accurately forecasting budgets, while overseeing the impact of any changes on schedule, scope or costs.
- Contribute to the Kingfisher Delivery chapter and help share best practice and support the wider delivery community.
- Demonstrated experience delivering technology projects across a range of areas, such as on-premise, cloud or hosted infrastructure especially within Supply Chain, Warehouse, Logistics or Customer Service technology.
- Experience of working in a matrix organisation, and in product-led or agile delivery teams.
- Proven ability to deliver both technical and non-technical change in complex environments and operations.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage dependencies and prioritise effectively.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, fostering effective collaboration across business and technology teams.
- High level of self-motivation, energy, and adaptability.
- Customer-focused mindset, ensuring solutions deliver real business value. Experience with in-store operations and associated Digital Products, in particular experience with B&Q and .com+ is desirable.
- In-depth experience of digital product management, governance models and delivery frameworks.
- Strong overall knowledge of application capabilities, integration, development methodologies and industry best practices.
- Experience of significant transformation leadership and management.
- Good understanding of product design framework, methodologies and user research.
- Well-seasoned strong communication and presentation skills at all levels of a business.
- Track record of being a structured problem solver able to see, develop and focus on the bigger picture.
- Experience of team and line management.
- Working in an agile environment with matrix management.
- Clear understanding of development frameworks, code management and operation of underlying infrastructure.
- Knowledge and understanding of web analytics and optimisation solutions, especially Google Analytics.
- Demonstrable evidence of building relationships and influencing across work levels, up to and including Board level.
- Capable of representing B&Q at external events.
- Be a product thought leader and help to embed a product culture in B&Q.
- Comfortable navigating and simplifying ambiguity.
