Part of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biosciences, the Animal and Veterinary Science team are a dynamic and research-active division that plays a key role in education, applied research, and industry collaboration across Scotland and beyond. They are internationally recognised for their contributions to animal welfare science, with one of the largest research teams in Europe dedicated to understanding the behaviour and wellbeing of managed animals.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Technical Support Officer to join our team at Oatridge, where you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality teaching within the Animal Unit.

This position is central to ensuring that both staff and students have the technical support they need to carry out practical learning activities effectively and safely.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain the operational readiness of teaching environments, including preparing animals and equipment for practical sessions.
  • Ensure facilities and stores are clean, organised, and well-stocked.
  • Support teaching staff during demonstrations and practical classes.
  • Contribute to the development of teaching resources and supervise students and trainees during hands-on activities where required.
  • Help create a safe, engaging, and professionally run learning environment to support student development.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

This role would suit a candidate educated to SCQF Level 5, with the ability to demonstrate competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired sufficient relevant knowledge and skills e.g. in a similar role, or through education/training.
