At Derbyshire County Council, we’re on an ambitious journey to transform how we deliver services to our communities. As a Technical Project Manager in our Digital Services team, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of public service delivery—leading projects that deliver innovative, reliable, and secure digital solutions.

About the Role

You’ll manage small to medium‑scale technical projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and to a high standard. Working closely with technical teams and stakeholders, you’ll oversee planning, risk management, and delivery, while ensuring alignment with organisational goals and compliance standards.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, thrives on challenge, and wants to make a real impact. You’ll be part of a friendly, forward‑thinking team that values innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Please note, this is a hybrid role and there is an expectation to work from County Council offices in Matlock as required to support collaboration and delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Leading technical projects from initiation to completion, ensuring successful delivery.
  • Managing project plans, budgets, risks, and resources effectively.
  • Coordinating with technical specialists to ensure solutions meet business and security requirements.
  • Engaging stakeholders across the organisation to maintain clear communication and alignment.
  • Driving continuous improvement and promoting best practice in project delivery.
Who You’ll Work With
  • You’ll work with the Technical Project Management team and work closely with the wider Digital Services team.
  • You’ll collaborate with developers, infrastructure teams, business analysts, and external suppliers.
  • You’ll also liaise with departmental managers and other stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery.
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience in managing technical projects, ideally within a digital or public sector environment.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Familiarity with technical concepts and ability to communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset and a passion for digital transformation.
  • Confidence in managing competing priorities and delivering results under pressure.
