Job description

Colt provides network, voice and data centre services to thousands of businesses around the world, allowing them to focus on delivering their business goals instead of the underlying infrastructure.

What you will do

Operations

  • 24/7 marine fault support and analysis, including fault location identification, defining spares requirements, repair ship call out and liaison, repair representative all out and liaison, purchase order management, repair plan management
  • Work directly with other marine cable owners to manage expectations, agree repair plans, and define obligations e.g. permit responsibilities
  • Management of marine spares e.g. replenishment, testing, compatibility etc.
  • Ensure marine network vulnerabilities and risks are identified, tracked, inspected and measures taken to protect the network where required.
  • Liaise with marine vendors, and cable station staff as required
  • Maintain all marine documentation for Colt and Colts customers marine systems

Engineering

  • Draft scopes of work for subsea inspections, analyze results / reports and recommend additional protection measures
  • Design and manage PFE monitoring solutions
  • Manage installation and operation of emergency PFE
  • Engineer repair or replacement solutions for shallow water repairs as needed

Legal / Regulatory

  • Provide technical advice for marine cable crossings
  • Supporting scope of work drafting for the decommissioning of marine cables as they become out of service
  • Supporting the negotiation of cable recovery contracts to the benefit of Colt
  • Keep current with industry sustainability progress for subsea

Sales Support

  • Provide support to Colt sales teams with subsea sales opportunities, provide technical information as required
  • Support bid responses for marine installations, shore end landings, cable station and fronthaul construction projects
  • Provide ad hoc support for assessment, purchase, and testing of dormant marine systems
Qualifications

Must haves:

  • 5+ year’s industry experience in a marine network operations or engineering role
  • Experience of marine network fault diagnosis and repair (electrical and optical)
  • Experience of cable station facilities management including Power Feed Equipment
  • Experience of marine network architecture, design and engineering
  • Experience in working with marine network vendors and suppliers
  • Outstanding communication skills, able to convey ideas, feedback and instructions to internal and external teams.
  • Excellent problem solving and lateral thinking skills for creating unique solutions to challenging problems
  • Stake Holder Management and Collaboration Skills
  • Willing to be flexible to get the work done and able to prioritise and plan time effectively,
