Job Title: Fire Door and Passive Fire Protection (PFP) Technical Manager

Location: Flexible / Hybrid (Head Office in Essex)

Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 (Dependent on experience)

Role Overview

This senior technical role supports the delivery of high-quality passive fire protection solutions, including fire door installation, compartmentation, firestopping, and structural steel protection. The Technical Manager will ensure compliance, provide technical leadership, and support operational teams across varied projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership
    • Act as the primary technical contact for internal teams.
    • Promote clarity and accuracy in compliance communications.
  • Surveying & Documentation
    • Support product/system specification from tender to completion.
    • Validate technical documentation and compliance advice.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Maintain and audit certifications and accreditations.
    • Lead site audits and set standards for installation quality.
  • Training & Development
    • Deliver internal training on regulations and installation methods.
    • Upskill staff across surveying, operations, and project management.
  • Product & Installation Validation
    • Approve material specifications for compliance and compatibility.
    • Identify risks and propose proactive solutions.
  • Client & Supplier Engagement
    • Represent the company in technical meetings.
    • Build trust through practical, standards-driven advice.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Experience in passive fire protection and fire door compliance.
  • Hands-on QA experience on live sites.
  • Familiarity with certification standards (e.g., IFC, BM Trada) and ISO frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of building regulations and fire safety.
  • Effective communicator with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
  • Preferred: Background in carpentry or joinery, especially with fire door installation or inspection experience.
