LDH have over 65 years’ experience supplying the major UK supermarkets and is recognised as the leading own label supplier of a wide range of ambient foods, sourced from every corner of the world.

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Technical Manager to join our dynamic team.

Job Summary

To be the first point of contact for our major customers and suppliers in relation to technical requirements, product safety, legality, and quality.

  • To liaise with both customers and suppliers to develop open trusting working relationships.
  • To support the supply base to deliver customer requirements through site visits and audits, communication of customer standards, policies and COPs and to communicate any specific product or industry issues and updates. To manage relationships with new suppliers.
  • To communicate technical performance with customers and suppliers on an agreed frequency.
  • To ensure NPD projects are delivered in-line with the customer technical requirements.
  • To work with the QC Team to resolve any product Quality/Safety/Legality issues.
  • To maintain good relationships with other technical team and traders to underpin the customer and supplier relationship.
  • To be aware of relevant changes to legislation and government targets as well as emerging industry issues through horizon scanning.
  • To take responsibility for the delivery of key customer projects.
  • To conduct line management responsibilities as required, according to the department structure.
  • To support the Responsible Sourcing Manager to deliver on customer requirements.
  • To contribute to the Technical strategy of the business through delivery of the Quality Plan.
  • To contribute to the business Quality Management System
  • To support in the activities of the warehouse and contribute to the warehouse Quality Management System
  • To undertake additional work or projects at the discretion of the Technical Director.
Key Accountabilities
  • To maintain the relationship with both customers and suppliers
  • To monitor and report on KPI’s.
  • To conduct regular site audits and produce accurate factory audit reports for the supplier
  • To monitor quality of products and action any areas of concern.
  • To update and maintain knowledge of specific industry issues.
  • To meet the requirements set by the customer for: factories; safety; legal and good quality standards
  • To support the Technical function where required.

  • The above list of responsibilities is not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to carry out such other duties as required from time to time which are broadly consistent with the status of the post within the organisation.
  • Ensure customer and Company confidentiality at all times
  • Adhere to the Company’s Health and Safety Policy at all times
  • Provide cover for colleagues as directed by your Line Manager
  • All staff are required to undertake training as determined by the Line Manager
  • This is a Display Screen Equipment (DSE) user regulated post.
