Part time (22.2 hours per week)
An extremely exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a Rehabilitation Assistant to work as part of the multi-disciplinary team providing specialist palliative care based within Roxburghe House, Royal Victoria Hospital. Roxburghe House is a purpose-built unit offering care and rehabilitation services to patients with complex palliative care needs. In this unique role the post holder will work as part of the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy teams within Roxburghe House, Macmillan Day Care Unit and outreach in the community, visiting patients in their own homes and carrying out rehabilitative activities within the local community.
This role is diverse and allows the post holder to develop and consolidate skills in both disciplines. Opportunities include undertaking rehabilitation programmes, supporting discharge planning, prevention of admission to hospital and supporting quality of life initiatives alongside caring for patients and attending to their daily needs.
In order to fully integrate into the team, the post holder will be required to participate in clinical supervision, reflective practice and to promote patient centred care. Excellent communication skills and evidence of relevant personal development are essential. The post would offer opportunities for continued professional development.
You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.
