Enterprise Engineering operate to eradicate friction for the thousands of developers that engineer within the organisation today. Through a mix of modern progressive platforms, enablement teams accelerating our consumers and overseeing governance ensuring we are resilient as an organization & we provide the full end to end ecosystem required to be successful.

About the role

As an engineer in the Engineering Governance team, you will be responsible for the Governance as a Service functionality that delivers data insights on how Fidelity as an organisation is adhering to the many audit, security, risk & regulatory controls in real time. Traditionally, every year as engineers we have to take screen shots to evidence controls are being met - this is a mundane and poor use of time! How can we as engineers showcase these controls are being adhered to in real time back to our stakeholders to see self service at any time of day? Can we pragmatically develop automated ways to remediate or prevent non compliant workloads? Through API led interactions, building awesome pipelines & writing some great code, we can revolutionise how we govern & protect our systems. We need innovative & energetic people to join our team to help bring the theory into practise, quickly & effectively through best practise engineering techniques. We need to showcase the art of what is possible in terms of building high quality, simple code integrated into robust pipelines that helps build the trust of our key stakeholders & enabling others to learn from us.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need to

  • Have very good Python programming knowledge, plus Terraform & CI/CD pipeline skills with practical working experience of writing lean simple code with good test & code coverage
  • Have very good working knowledge of AWS typical services - networking, IAM, compute, storage & cloud account structures.
  • Have very good knowledge of building feature rich APIs & maintaining customer contracts. Be very familar with GitOps best practises, paired programming & kanban management.
  • Working knowledge of Azure desirable (but not essential at this stage). Be comfortable to work across many different technologies across the group to automate controls.
  • Bring consistency in delivery of scalable and resilient solutions by leveraging enterprise architecture patterns and frameworks, aligned to best practice engineering methods
  • Be familiar with policy as code practices & the FIL Security standards (although this can be learnt on the job)
  • Maintain a strong cadence of communication across the Enterprise Engineering group.

  • You are a confident & thoughtful engineer who can 'disrupt' existing ways of working by changing manual steps & tedious process etc into automated solutions. You can work quickly across a number of activities combined to provide creative, cost effective outcomes, keeping your stakeholders requirements close to your heart at all times.
  • You expertly use your influencing & negiotating skills to ensure your key stakeholders are your most happy customers & they trust you to represent them within Enterprise Engineering.
  • You are passionate & enthusiastic about the organisational, behavioural & cultural aspects of change.
  • You relish new ideas & enjoy creating something from beginning, able to see it through to completion where quality is priority.
  • You can easily empathise with others to agree pragmatic outcomes.
  • You are transparent with your work at all times & seek feedback from others often, yet always taking responsibility for your work
  • You can easily pair up with other engineers to deliver quality outcomes.
