Overview

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us. Clinical Engineering is looking for a Team Manager, Specialist Clinical Technologist (Healthcare science practitioner) to join its team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

With a clear focus on quality and patient services you will be responsible for managing a team of clinical technologists, technically supporting a wide range of medical equipment across many clinical specialties that supports the delivery of world class healthcare here at University Hospital Southampton, within the local healthcare community and overseas. The role may include exciting opportunities for 2-5 days of overseas work per year.

Responsibilities
  • Line manage a team of highly skilled healthcare science professionals providing medical equipment technical services to a diverse range of clinical specialisms throughout the Trust and to other NHS and private healthcare providers (approximately 10,000 assets with a book value of £30m).
  • Manage commissioning, maintenance (corrective and planned), technical corrective measures for national technical safety recalls, decommissioning and disposal.
  • Be responsible for healthcare science technical training for the team, including continuous professional development and apprenticeships (educational level 3 to 6).
  • Provide specialist technical advice to clinical and scientific staff.
