A local council in London is looking for a Team Manager (Community Opportunities) to support adults with learning disabilities. This role involves working closely with service users and their families, managing service delivery in line with legislative requirements, and developing effective support plans. Good Afternoon,

I am currently representing Brent Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate, at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience.

Team Manager (Community Opportunities)

Location: HA3 0PQ

The right candidate will:
  • work to support service users in a respectful, honest, supportive and empowering manner, according to the standards laid out by Brent Council and the Direct Service Unit;
  • build links with Care Managers and work jointly with other Direct Service staff to assess service users' needs;
  • ensure that programmes are developed for individual service users to identify life skills and goals;
  • be responsible for the safe delivery of the service in line with legislative requirements and the authority's policy and procedures;
  • facilitate the delivery of service user's Support Plans together with service users and their carers, drawing on resources and advice available within the service unit and the wider environment of Brent;
  • identify risks which may arise and involve professional staff as necessary in resolving or clarifying potentially risky situations involving service users and to report back to the Service Manager;
  • ensure services are continually monitored, reviewed and adapted to meet changing need and that service users, carers, community organisations and other key stakeholders are involved in these developments.
We require the following:
  • Significant proven experience working with adults with learning disabilities;
  • Demonstrate examples of working with service users' families to support service users to achieve their goals;
  • Experience of adult services, risk assessment and person‑centred support;
  • Experience of managing and developing an effective staff team including recruitment, training, supporting and supervising staff.
