Overview

Applications are invited from committed and experienced Registered Nurses, Allied Health Professionals or Social Workers to join the Severe & Profound Adult Learning Disabilities Residential Home team as Band 5 Team Leader within the Adult Learning Disabilities Service on the island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands. This Home provides support to service users with severe, profound and multiple learning disabilities, complex physical and sensory disabilities, and behaviour that challenges, including those who require 24 hour care.

Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Band 6 Deputy Manager, provide and oversee care and support for service users.
  • Lead and motivate the Band 3 and Band 4 Support Workers in your team.
  • Promote the wellbeing, independence and quality of life of service users, while ensuring their safety and dignity.
  • Support activities of daily living as appropriate, including cleaning, shopping, washing, ironing, cooking, personal care, managing finances, and accessing the community; service users are encouraged to participate in these activities with staff.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Registered Nurse, Allied Health Professional (AHP) or Social Worker with appropriate UK statutory professional registration as applicable.
  • Current or recent experience supporting adults with autism and/or learning disability.
  • Newly or soon-to-qualify learning disabilities nurses may be considered as part of the team.
  • Current clean driving licence.
  • Personal qualities to include reliability, honesty, patience, resilience, motivation and leadership skills.
Salary and Benefits
  • Band 5 salary range: £38,744 to £49,970 plus an annual bonus of £1,605 and higher unsocial hours enhancements (36% evening/Saturday and 72% Sunday/Bank Holiday).
  • Annual leave starts at 36 days up to 42 days, with full credit for NHS service for annual leave and sick leave.
  • Relocation support and benefits specific to Guernsey, including a relocation payment and initial accommodation options (see directive for full terms).
