Responsibilities

  • Join a team ensuring safe and appropriate care practices.
  • Support the Manager in the home's operation and positive childcare practice.
  • Provide a warm and supportive environment for residents.
  • Maintain regular recordings of each young person.
  • Attend review and planning meetings.
  • Assist in the development and review of service policy.
  • Delegate tasks and coordinate daily routines.
  • Participate in household duties and activities with residents.
  • Attend supervision, meetings, and training as required.
  • Administer medication and complete related paperwork.
  • Undertake sleeping-in duties as required.
  • Respond to emergencies within the service.
  • Provide a positive role model for colleagues and residents.

JOB PURPOSE

To join a team offering a comprehensive residential service for young people with learning disabilities and associated challenging behaviour aged between 10-18 years. Our aim being to ensure the physical, social, emotional care and development of the young people.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To join a team of residential care staff ensuring that safe and appropriate care practices are always maintained.
  • To support the Manager in all aspects of the home's operation, whilst maintaining positive childcare practice, in keeping with the aims and objectives of the home.
  • To provide a safe, warm, and supportive environment to our residents whilst being involved in the planning and organisation of the home.
  • To maintain a regular recording system in connection with each young person, be involved in the implementation of care plans and assist in the publication of reports when required.
  • To attend review and planning meetings when required.
  • To assist with the process of development, implementation, and review of service policy.
  • To ensure when on shift that care staff conduct themselves within the guidelines of the home in line with Policy documents and care plans.
  • To delegate tasks to residential care staff and co‑ordinate the daily routines of the home and participate in household duties such as cooking, cleaning, gardening and promote and maintain high standards of cleanliness.
  • To delegate tasks to residential care staff and participate in the general activities of the home such as cycling, swimming, walking, playing games and to use any personal skills you may have to maximise opportunity for each resident.
  • To attend regular supervision sessions, staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • To accept responsibility for such monies as may be required in the carrying out of your duties
  • To administer medication to children as required and complete all related paperwork and records.
  • To undertake sleeping in duties as required.
  • To comply with and adherence to the policies, procedures, and practice of the home and to respond to emergencies which may arise within the service.
  • To provide a positive role model for colleagues and the young people resident.
