  • Advanced experience of microbiology.
  • Experience in training and supporting registration and specialist portfolios in medical microbiology.
  • Knowledge of recognition and identification of bacteria and other micro-organisms.

  • Excellent organisational skills.

  • Direct work of scientific and support staff.
  • Coordinate specialist clinical technical services, including research and audit.

Key Requirements
  • HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist.
  • Specialist Portfolio or equivalent experience.
  • MSc or equivalent qualification.
  • Advanced experience of microbiology.
  • Experience in training and supporting registration and specialist portfolios in medical microbiology.
  • Knowledge of recognition and identification of bacteria and other micro-organisms.
  • Flexibility in your approach as there is the requirement to work out of hours and weekends.
  • Excellent communication skills together with excellent organisational skills are essential requirements for this post.

  • Responsible for management of a technical section within the Department, directing the work of the other scientific and support staff in the day to day analytical provision of a high quality, cost effective service.
  • Provides and coordinates specialist clinical technical services including research and audit.
  • Developing the section in line with departmental objectives.
  • To provide a lead role in the training and instruction of staff within their section.
