AWE is looking for a Team leader 3D Capture and Smart Technologies (3DCaST)

The 3D Capture and Smart Technologies Team delivers a range of technologies to Support AWE's core mission, including reverse engineering, model-based inspection, large volume metrology, data measurement, unmanned aerial vehicle deployment, robotics and autonomous systems.

As the Team leader of an enabling technologies team, you will be part of core group of leaders and specialists that will help shape the future of engineering at AWE, delivering service and research and development activities across the business. The role offers a great career development opportunity.

This role involves working with the local task managers and technical leads to ensure continued availability of the capability along with the research and development work to support the business.

Qualifications
  • Delivery of own agreed objectives / project deliverables
  • Contributing to the planning and execution of tasks to deliver specific agreed objectives on time, demonstrating control of cost and quality
  • Understanding of the hazards and associated risks of any work conducted and, where required, safely use specialised equipment
  • Maintaining and promoting high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality and be a great collaborator
  • Good understanding of mechanical engineering theory and practice, with a broad knowledge of engineering design and manufacture
  • Experience of managing small engineering projects and delivering to Quality, Time, and Cost
  • A good knowledge of Quality Systems
  • Good people skills, ability to work independently but also within a team, supporting colleagues to achieve the teams' goals
  • Effective communication skills (written and oral)Strong organisational and critical thinking skills
  • The candidate should have a technical background and experience within the engineering design discipline
  • Knowledge of 3D Data Capture tools
  • Knowledge of Robotics
  • Ideally, a degree or equivalent qualification in a science or engineering discipline and / or an HND / HNC
Responsibilities
  • Management of team members welfare, performance, and development
  • Ensuring staff training is appropriate and up to date (Laser Safety)
  • Recruitment, staff development and team strategy
  • Liaising with many customers and stakeholders and owning the team order book
  • Building collaborative links within the Applied Engineering Group, across AWE and with industry / academic partners
  • Coaching and mentoring

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role and be willing and able to travel within the UK and overseas as required.
