Job description

Our Team Leaders play a critical role in delivering justice. Your task will be to guide your team to provide excellent administrative support and customer service to service users, judiciary, and management.

Position Details
  • Permanent, full‑time (37 hours per week) at Norwich Magistrates Court – includes accommodation responsibilities and occasional travel to local HMCTS sites.
  • Fixed term (up to 12 months) at either Norwich or Ipswich Magistrates Court – part‑time considered; minimum three full days per week. Occasional travel required for cover.
Responsibilities
  • Motivate and support your team to deliver excellent customer service and achieve performance targets.
  • Prioritise and organise work within your area, ensuring your team is fully skilled to meet objectives.
  • Contribute to operational, performance and service standards, and provide statistical data to management and judiciary.
  • Monitor and analyse performance trends, conduct reviews of procedures and work practices, recommend improvements, and manage the implementation of new initiatives and legislation.
  • Develop your leadership skills through the HMCTS leadership offer and support others in doing the same.
  • Deliver customer‑facing operational support in an office setting, providing HMCTS services to the public.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience in an administrative role within a customer‑focused environment.

  • IT proficiency with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and software packages.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • DBS basic clearance (or will be obtained prior to appointment).
Working Arrangements & Benefits
  • Standard full‑time working hours: 37 hours per week (part‑time, flexible and job‑sharing options available).
  • Hybrid working where business needs allow – minimum 60% office time.
  • Annual leave: 25 days on appointment, increasing to 30 after five years, with the option to buy or sell up to three days per year.
