We are seeking a motivated Food Production Team Leader to join our dynamic team in Melton Mowbray. Rate of Pay:

  1. AM Basic £14.61 per hour
  2. PM Shift Allowance 5% £15.34 per hour
  3. Nights Shift Allowance 23% £17.97 per hour
  4. Sunday AM/PM £18.58 per hour
  5. Sunday Nights £19.06 per hour

Overtime is available after working 37.5 hours and is paid at £18.26 per hour.

Shift Patterns:

  • Monday – Friday, 5 out of 7 or weekend shifts Friday – Sunday.
  • Hours of work: 6am to 14.30pm; 2pm to 22.30pm.
Your Time At Work:
  • Team Leadership: Lead and support a team of 6‑8 production staff, ensuring they are motivated, trained, and equipped to meet daily production goals.
  • Production Oversight: Take a hands‑on approach in overseeing all stages of production, including goods in, preparation, cooking, and packaging, ensuring high‑quality standards and operational efficiency.
  • Schedule & Workflow Management: Plan and organize the production schedule to ensure a smooth and cost‑effective operation, addressing any workflow issues as they arise.
  • Quality & Safety Standards: Ensure that all production processes meet company and statutory hygiene, health, and safety regulations. Monitor adherence to food safety standards, including HACCP.
  • Continuous Improvement: Review production processes and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve productivity while maintaining the highest quality standards.
  • Training & Development: Provide guidance, training, and support to production team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Reporting & Communication: Report production performance to the Production Manager, highlighting any issues or areas for improvement, and ensure effective communication between shifts and departments.
Our Perfect Worker:
  • Previous leadership experience in managing or leading a production team, ideally in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Great problem‑solving skills, the ability to assess operational challenges and implement solutions to optimize production.
  • Food safety knowledge, strong understanding of food safety practices, including HACCP, food hygiene regulations, and quality assurance systems.
  • Operational Expertise: knowledge of production processes, including inventory management, preparation, cooking, and packaging.
  • Health and safety awareness, understanding of health and safety regulations and a commitment to creating a safe working environment for all staff.
  • Experience in a similar role is required.
