Welsh Speaking, Primary Teaching Assistant

Start date: 28th April 2025
Hour: Monday to Friday 8.30am to 3.30pm
Pay rate 100 to 110 per day

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Welsh Speaking Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and nurturing school in Newport, a lovely Welsh medium primary school. This full‑time, long‑term role offers the opportunity to significantly contribute to the educational journey of our pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN). The successful candidate may have the potential to secure a permanent position. You will play an essential role in supporting our school's mission of providing a high‑quality, inclusive education, fostering a love for learning through the medium of Welsh.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored support to children with Additional Learning Needs, such as Autism, ADHD, and Speech & Language difficulties, both in small groups and on a 1:1 basis.
  • Facilitate learning through the medium of Welsh, ensuring all pupils have equal access to the curriculum and are able to participate fully in classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers to implement individualised learning plans and adapt resources to meet the diverse needs of pupils.
  • Assist in the preparation and organisation of classroom materials and activities that promote an inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and track the progress of pupils, providing feedback to teachers and parents as necessary.
  • Apply Makaton signing techniques when appropriate to support communication for pupils with speech and language challenges.
