September start - Full-time

Academics are recruiting on behalf of an SEN College in Bournemouth who are looking for a hard working and passionate Teaching Assistant to join their team in September. The College caters for young people aged 16 - 25 years with aspergers or high functioning autism.

This is a full-time, temp to perm position. Please only apply if you are looking for a permanent position.

This position will be suited to someone with previous experience of working in a school support position, ideally with pupils with SEN, in particular autism and/or aspergers. You will be required to support on a 1:1 and small group basis. Many of the learners display challenging behaviour and may also suffer with mental health conditions that impact their ability to achieve their potential so the ideal candidate will be calm, empathetic and encouraging.

Students have individual learning plans encompassing the key features of post-16 study programmes, tailored to their needs, abilities and preferences. All plans provide opportunities for learners to develop their functional, vocational, academic and personal skills, and experience community living.
