An educational institution in Newark on Trent is seeking an exceptional Teaching Assistant to join its SEND department. This temporary role involves supporting literacy for students in Key Stages 3 and 4. An exciting opportunity has arisen at Tuxford Academy for an exceptional Teaching Assistant to work with an experienced and highly motivated team of professionals within the academy’s SEND department. This is a temporary role covering a maternity leave, working 32.5 hours per week, term time only.
We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and talented professional to work across Key Stages 3 and 4. The primary focus of the role will be supporting literacy. Working closely with teachers, the postholder will deliver bespoke small group literacy interventions aimed at improving attainment and comprehension, ensuring that students are equipped with the skills they need to fully access the curriculum.

We are a large secondary academy for students aged 11-18 years based in Tuxford with over 1,400 students. In our latest Ofsted inspection, we were rated ‘good’ overall with praise of high expectations for all students, including those in place for SEND students, and that the academy has implemented ‘an ambitious, well-planned curriculum for all subjects’. The report reaffirmed that teachers had ‘secure subject knowledge’ and that students enjoyed attending Tuxford Academy and felt safe at school.
