Job summary

An educational staffing organization is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work full-time in Blackburn, supporting students in Key Stage 4 with challenging behaviour. The role requires strong behaviour management skills and a passion for making a difference in young people's lives. Previous experience in support roles is desirable but not essential. Location: Blackburn with Darwen
Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday

  • Monday-Thursday: 8:00am - 3:20pm

  • Friday: 8:00am - 2:30pm
    Pay: £13.75 - £14.50 per hour

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a Secondary Alternative Provision supporting students in Key Stage 4. This is a rewarding full-time role for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of young people who require additional behavioural and emotional support.

  • Supporting students with challenging behaviour in a structured and supportive learning environment

  • Working closely with teaching staff to promote engagement, progress, and positive behaviour

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs

  • Acting as a positive role model and building strong, trusting relationships with students

  • Has strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure

  • Has experience working with young people in a support, care, or mentoring capacity

  • Is resilient, consistent, and confident in setting boundaries

  • Support work or youth work

  • Personal or lived experience relevant to working with young people

  • Sports coaching or physical activity roles

  • Military, policing, or other uniformed services

Experience within education is desirable but not essential-the right attitude, commitment, and ability to engage young people are key.
