The Role

We seek an inspirational and ambitious Teacher of German to join our dynamic Modern Languages Department. This full-time role involves teaching German across all year groups from Year 9 to Sixth Form, including A Level (AQA) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).

As a key member of a talented, supportive, and hardworking department, you will deliver outstanding teaching, fostering a love of the German language and culture. You will contribute to sustaining the department’s strong reputation, promote German across the school community, and support co-curricular and enrichment activities including trips and debating.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach engaging and inspiring German lessons to pupils from Year 9 through to Sixth Form in both A Level and IB Diploma programmes.
  • Develop and deliver schemes of work, assessments, and timely feedback according to departmental policies.
  • Contribute to the creation and upkeep of a stimulating and safe learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share resources and good practice.
  • Participate in the wider life of the school through pastoral duties, tutoring, and co-curricular activities such as language societies, trips, and cultural events.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents and uphold safeguarding standards.
Person Specification
  • Good Honours degree with a strong academic background in German or a closely related field.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Excellent fluency in German and a genuine passion for the language and culture.
  • Demonstrable ability to inspire pupils of all abilities and teach effectively across a broad age range.
