About the Role
Subsea Craft is a fast growing, privately funded, UK‑based SME delivering advanced maritime technology. We specialise in developing VICTA, an optionally crewed dual‑domain vessel capable of both surface and submerged operation. As an Electrical Engineer you will develop and implement systems that power and control our maritime platforms and directly support teams of craft technicians. Responsibilities
- Systems design & craft build:
- Design and assemble electrical components and systems according to specifications.
- Use hand tools and fault‑finding equipment for high‑, low‑voltage and CAN‑based systems.
- Assist sourcing and selection of components for electrical and control systems.
- Conduct quality control and set‑up for vessel electrical systems.
- Work Management:
- Follow work instructions and project timelines to ensure timely completion.
- Utilise tablet‑based work management to access instructions, record progress and complete documentation.
- Collaborate in creation of processes and work instructions.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with all team members to achieve project goals.
- Communicate effectively to coordinate tasks, share insights and troubleshoot issues.
- Adherence to Standards:
- Maintain exacting workmanship standards for craft build, maintenance and development.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, quality control measures and industry standards.
- Innovative Thinking:
- Propose and implement improvements in systems design, installation techniques, build processes and fault‑finding.
- Contribute ideas to enhance efficiency, quality and productivity in the workshop.

- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the workshop.

Qualifications and Experience
- Deep understanding of DC power systems, PLC and CAN control architecture.
- Experience in fault finding, new builds, quality control and documentation of processes.
- Proficient with hand tools; capable of building, fitting and fault‑finding complex systems.
- Able to work from drawings and work instructions, completing documentation when required.
- Computer literate – basic knowledge of MS Office.
- City & Guilds, HNC/HND in Electrical, Electronic or Marine Engineering, or equivalent automotive or marine experience (desired).
- Ability to fault find mechanical and hydraulic systems (desired).
- Experience with Auto‑CAD, Inventor or other 3D CAD software (desired).
Working Conditions
The role is primarily based in the SubSea Craft office in Portsmouth, UK, with required travel to our Portland facility in Dorset during trials. The position may involve work in a manufacturing environment and at sea, presenting physical challenges and requiring adherence to safety protocols.
Candidates must meet UK security requirements: existing right to live and work, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) with potential security check for specific projects.
