Overview

System Design Engineer (215jc) – Redhill, Surrey – Excellent Package

About the Role
If you’ve served in the UK Armed Forces and have technical or engineering experience, this could be your next mission. We are looking for a System Design Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team. This role blends hands-on design work with problem-solving, technical innovation, and teamwork — all skills familiar to military service. Whether your background is in electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering, your discipline, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure will make you a great fit. Full training and support will be provided where needed.

Responsibilities
  • Designing and producing electrical and mechanical drawings for complex systems.
  • Developing concepts from first principles and refining designs for production.
  • Ensuring designs meet relevant safety, compliance, and regulatory standards.
  • Producing high-quality 2D and 3D CAD drawings, including STEP files for client use.
  • Working with cross-functional teams to integrate designs with wider system requirements.
  • Producing schematics and diagrams to support projects.
  • Using CAD tools such as AutoCAD, SEE Electrical, ETAP, or similar.
Qualifications
  • Military trade qualification or equivalent technical qualification (HND/HNC, apprenticeship, etc.).
  • Experience in electrical or systems design (military or civilian).
  • Familiarity with engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects to completion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise work in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience using CAD software and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Willingness to work with different teams and clients to deliver solutions.
  • Eligibility for security clearance of SC as a minimum.
