Overview

Are you a qualified Swim Teacher looking for a new opportunity? As part of the Aquatics team, working across North Lanarkshire’s Swimming Pools, you will ensure the safe and effective operation of the swimming lesson programme, teach, and develop appropriate lessons for groups and individuals to meet the needs of each level within the Scottish Swimming’s Learn to Swim Framework.

With experience of working in a leisure facility/environment, you must possess the following minimum qualification: Scottish Swimming Teacher Qualification (SSTQ) Level 1 Teachers qualification in swimming or equivalent. In addition, you must also have an understanding as well as experience of the health and safety requirements within the leisure industry. Equally important is your team player attitude as is your ability to work on your own initiative. Possession of excellent communication and customer care skills, as well as the ability to comply with the flexible hours associated with the programme are also essential.

You will require to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member through Disclosure Scotland and obtain a satisfactory membership check prior to commencing in this role.

Work Location: Tryst Leisure Centre, Cumbernauld

Work Pattern:

Monday – 3.15pm to 7pm

Tuesday – 9.15am to 11.45am & 3.30pm to 7.30pm

Wednesday – 9.15am to 11.45am & 3.15pm to 7.15pm

Thursday – 9.15am to 11.45am & 3.30pm to 6.30pm

Friday – 3.15pm to 6.15pm

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safe and effective operation of the swimming lesson programme across North Lanarkshire pools.
  • Teach and develop appropriate lessons for groups and individuals to meet the needs of each level within the Learn to Swim Framework.
Qualifications
  • Minimum qualification: Scottish Swimming Teacher Qualification (SSTQ) Level 1 Teachers qualification in swimming or equivalent.
  • Understanding and experience of health and safety requirements within the leisure industry.
  • Strong communication and customer care skills; ability to work with flexibility of hours.

Other requirements

  • PVG Scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and satisfactory check prior to starting.
