We are seeking a Product Development Engineer to join our team! This position will maintain existing products and supports new product development, as needed by following the essential duties.

This is a full-time, exempt position located in Lancaster, PA. Hours are Monday-Thursday, 7:45 AM – 4:45 PM; Friday, 7:45 AM – 3:30 PM.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains engineering design documentation for existing products, including bill of material, drawings, instructions, and third-party listing reports.
  • Supports Manufacturing of existing products, including process changes and troubleshooting.
  • Supports Supply Chain for existing products, including addressing component quality issues, sourcing issues, supplier qualification, and PPAP procurement and evaluation.
  • Assists Sales and Marketing, Customer Service, and Tech Services with addressing customer questions and resolving field issues.
  • Evaluates, analyzes, and makes recommendations on product design and cost optimizations to improve the competitive position of the company.
  • Plans and executes laboratory test programs as needed to maintain compliance with third party listing programs, address field issues, evaluate product improvement, and support new product development.
  • Procures materials needed to construct prototypes for testing and design evaluation.
  • Analyzes test data to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications.
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.
  • Creates and maintains manuals and instructions following applicable codes, third party requirements, and company guidelines.
  • Provides sketches, markups, and direction to design drafters to create fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, sources, and coordinates the procurement of new materials to support design changes.
  • Takes initiative to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Provides support to Sales and marketing on product presentation, literature, and other customer support.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field from four-year college or university
  • 5 years of experience in an engineering role .
  • Understanding of engineering principles: heat transfer, fluids, and combustion
  • Analytical problem-solving capabilities and electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Working knowledge of computer-assisted engineering and design software
  • Ability to independently manage and prioritize multiple project tasks and responsibilities.
