Role Overview

Are you an experienced support worker looking for a wake night support worker role where you can make an impact? We're recruiting a new Support Worker to join our team, supporting a gentleman to feel safe, comfortable, and cared for throughout the night.

You will be supporting one gentleman in his 40s who requires 24-hour specialist support. He has epilepsy, bipolar disorder, type 2 diabetes, and mild-to-moderate learning disabilities. He has a history of behaviours of distress, but with the right approach, he thrives in a structured and supportive environment. The person we support is highly independent; he enjoys restoring furniture, gardening, chess, science experiments, playing guitar, shopping, and holidays.

He prefers to be seen as part of the team rather than a person receiving support, so engagement and communication are key. The best approach is to involve him naturally instead of asking him to complete a task; simply express that you need help and watch him step in eagerly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 24‑hour specialist support to a gentleman with complex needs.
  • Manage and de‑escalate behaviours of distress in a safe and structured environment.
  • Encourage participation in daily activities such as gardening, chess, and music.
  • Support the individual to maintain independence while ensuring safety.
Key Qualifications
  • Experience working with complex behaviours and distressing situations.
  • Comfortable navigating escalating behaviours and implementing de‑escalation techniques.
  • Drivers licence preferred but not essential.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
Schedule
  • 36 hours per week.
  • 4 nights one week, 3 nights the next (8pm‑8am).
  • Alternative weekends required.
Benefits
  • A competitive pay rate with uplift for overtime you choose to work.
  • 30 days paid Annual Leave (including public holidays – pro rata).
  • Opportunities for career progression.
  • High Street discounts – retail and entertainment (supermarkets, hospitality, pubs, cinema, etc.).
  • Life Assurance and Company Pension.
  • Industry‑leading training.
  • Enhanced DBS paid for by us.
  • Salary advance scheme – access up to 50% of earned money before payday.
  • Up to £1,220 per year in benefits.
  • We offer full training, ongoing development, and a values‑led culture where your contribution is recognised and celebrated.
