Are you someone who loves being out and about, getting involved, and making a real difference every single day? At Mencap, we're looking for a passionate and caring Support Worker to join our team part time (30 hours a week) supporting five incredible individuals who are full of personality. The people we support enjoy an active lifestyle, including trips to the swimming pool, visits to the zoo, trips to the cinema, arts and crafts, cooking, movie nights, board games, and regular visits to see family. One person we support is a keen gamer, so knowledge of consoles is a big plus. You’ll help people live the lives they choose, supporting them with daily routines including personal care, community activities, and SALT (Speech and Language Therapy) plans. This is a vibrant and rewarding role where you’ll be making a real difference.

Responsibilities
  • Support five individuals with daily routines including personal care and community activities, and follow SALT (Speech and Language Therapy) plans.
  • Facilitate and participate in activities such as swimming, zoo visits, cinema trips, arts and crafts, cooking, movie nights, board games, and family visits.
  • Engage with one person who enjoys gaming; adapt activities to their interests where possible.
  • Work varied shift patterns including early mornings to late evenings, with sleep-in shifts from 10pm to 7am, and a weekend schedule of 2 on, 1 off.
  • Be a driver with access to a vehicle to enable community participation and outings.
