About the Role

We are looking for a Support Worker to join our team based in Stirling for a specific gentleman. We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Support Worker to support our service user to live an independent life and to enjoy social activities in the community.

A typical day will include support with medication, personal, oral care and ensuring that appropriate clothes are selected for the day ahead. This service users’ day is very routine based. This will include sometime within and outside of the home. Our service user depends on constant reassurance throughout the day. He is able to make choices on his meals but requires support to prepare his food. Support perhaps required to assist with feeding. When at home our service user can mobilise independently but requires his wheelchair to access the community. Good communication is vital for this gentleman and he does have aids to support with this.

Our Support Workers experience variety and a huge sense of reward and achievement in their daily activities where no two days are the same and we place huge emphasis on the fact that our customers are individuals, at Mears Supported Living we feel everyone deserves to be treated as such.

About them

Our Service user is non-verbal and has a diagnosis of Hypotonic Proprioceptive difficulties, Hyper Mobility Syndrome, Scoliosis and Global Development delay.

This is a 1-1 support service at home and in the community. He has his own mobility car, so we are looking for someone that has a diving license so this can be utilised.

This is currently a 24hr support service, working from Friday at 14.00 until Monday at 10.00 at which time our service user goes to a day centre. He would benefit from a qualified driver so he can be dropped off at his day centre on a Monday morning.

When our service user becomes frustrated or agitated, he may display elements of challenging behaviour and may become vocal and grab out at support workers. There are risk assessments and care plans to support with challenging behaviours. Patience and understanding are very important for this service user, Compassion is key.
