Job summary

A local council in Northern Ireland is seeking individuals to assist with the delivery and supervision of activities for children aged 5 to 12 during the Summer Scheme. Qualifications

Job description

To assist with the delivery and supervision of activities, in a safe environment, during the Council Summer Scheme.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the implementation of a programme of activities for young children (5 to 12 years of age) as part of the Council’s Summer Scheme programme including sports, games and arts and crafts.
  • Supervising all activities as required for any activity as promoted as part of the Summer Scheme and keeping control of any disruptive behaviour that may occur.
  • Be responsible for keeping an up-to-date overall attendance register of children, including a register of children present on each trip / daily activity, knowing at all times who should be there.
  • Liaise with agencies, group, parents and individuals as and when required.
  • Undertake specific group leader duties as required.
  • Prepare inventories of equipment and monitor the use of same.
  • Reporting and monitoring in relation to participation.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety requirements and legislation in accordance with Council’s Policies and Procedures Manage.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to scale, which may be required from time to time
  • Comply with and actively promote the Council’s policies and procedures on all aspects of equality.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Hold a recognised foundation sport’s governing body coaching qualification or equivalent for example PGC Physical Education qualification.
  • One years’ experience working with young people in a leisure, sport, youth or similar environment.
  • Experience of coaching or supervising large groups of young people.
  • Experience of organising and coordinating activity sessions for young people in any or all of the following areas: sports, arts & crafts and/or games.
  • Understanding of Child Protection issues
