Summer Camp Cook & Afterschool Dinner Cook

Location: Shekinah Ranch, Charleroi, PA

Schedule:

  • August – May: Monday – Friday, 3 PM – 6 PM (Afterschool Dinner Cook)
  • June – July: Monday – Friday, 6:45 AM – 6:45 PM (with multiple daily breaks) (Summer Camp Cook)
About Us

Shekinah Ranch is a Christian nonprofit camp that has been serving youth since 2002. We provide faith‑based equine, adventure, and recreational programs designed to connect young people with God. Our summer camp programs include Day Camp (ages 5‑8), Overnight Camp (ages 8‑16), and Teen Discipleship (ages 11‑18). During the school year, we operate an afterschool program that provides meals, mentorship, and structured activities for students.

About the Position

This is a year‑round role that combines two essential responsibilities.

Afterschool Dinner Cook (August – May, 3 PM – 6 PM)
  • Prepare and serve nutritious dinners for 40–50 afterschool students.
  • Follow a meal plan designed by the Camp Director, with input from the cook.
  • Ensure kitchen cleanliness, food safety, and timely meal service.
Summer Camp Cook (June – July, 6:45 AM – 6:45 PM with breaks)
  • Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 50–75 campers and staff.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness, follow food safety guidelines, and oversee meal prep.
  • Collaborate with leadership to adjust menus based on dietary needs and preferences.

Individuals applying for this role should have experience cooking in bulk and be comfortable working in a fast‑paced, high‑energy environment.

Requirements & Expectations
  • Faith‑Based Commitment – Must uphold and live by Christian values in personal and professional life.
  • Culinary Experience – Experience in large‑scale meal prep, preferably in a camp, school, or institutional setting.
  • Organizational Skills – Ability to manage meal planning, preparation, and cleanup efficiently.
  • Physical Stamina – Must be able to stand for long periods, lift heavy items, and work in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Team Player – Ability to work with camp leadership, kitchen assistants, and volunteers.
  • Flexibility & Adaptability – Comfortable adjusting to changing schedules and food availability.
  • Clearances Required – All staff must provide Child Abuse Safety, Criminal Background, and FBI Fingerprint clearances.
