Job Purpose

You will manage and respond to Subject Access Requests in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR. Your role will focus on redacting and issuing information, ensuring individuals\' rights to access their personal data are respected while safeguarding sensitive information and maintaining compliance with statutory obligations.

What you will do
  • Manage incoming Subject Access Requests from individuals or authorised representatives, ensuring requests are processed within statutory deadlines.
  • Communicate and collaborate with service areas to gather relevant personal data.
  • Use redaction tools to redact third-party or exempt information, applying watermarks and sense-checking to create compliant documentation.
  • Dispatch completed information to requesters using secure and council-compliant methods.
  • Apply legal exemptions accurately and document decisions to ensure they are defensible.
  • Maintain comprehensive records in the corporate SAR register for audit purposes.
  • Ensure all responses are clear, complete, and delivered within legal timelines.
Key Requirements

  • Experience in managing Subject Access Requests in a local authority or similar environment.
