Job summary

An educational support provider is looking for a Student Mental Health Assistant in Cheltenham to support vulnerable children in mainstream primary schools. The role involves working closely with children with emotional and mental health needs, helping them build resilience and confidence. If you have a background in psychology or creative subjects and are passionate about making a difference, this full-time position offers £85-£100 per day. Enhanced DBS is required, starting ASAP.

Student Mental Health Assistant

Are you a recent Psychology graduate or someone with a background in creative or therapeutic work, looking to gain experience in a mainstream primary school? Do you have a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children with their emotional wellbeing and helping them overcome barriers to learning?

ASAP Start – Cheltenham.

As a Student Mental Health Assistant, you will:
  • Work 1:1 and in small groups with children facing challenges such as trauma, anxiety, school avoidance, and emotional regulation difficulties.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to support their wellbeing and development.
  • Assist in creating a safe, nurturing environment alongside SENCOs, behaviour mentors, and teaching staff.
  • Be actively involved in emotional support programmes both in and outside of the classroom.

  • £85‑£100 per day (depending on experience)
