Job Overview

Street Cleansing Operative / HGV Driver

Industry: Civil Engineering

Location: Isle of Wight

Hours: 2.00 p.m. - 10.30 p.m. (40 hours per week plus half an hour unpaid break each day)

Days: Monday - Friday

Duration: Temporary ongoing

Duties

• Safe operation of left‑hand drive road sweepers, following planned routes and schedules.
• Vehicle checks, basic maintenance and defect reporting.
• Road sweeping, litter picking and debris removal.
• Adherence to health and safety and highways regulations.
• Optional roles: emptying public rubbish bins (including dog waste) and clearing pavements, paths, drains and gullies of green waste.

Experience & Requirements

• Full clean HGV driver’s licence.
• Good awareness of health and safety.
• Physical fitness due to the nature of duties.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and on own initiative.

Salary

£13.04 per hour worked 2 pm – 6 pm, £17.34 per hour worked 6.30 pm – 10.30 pm.
