Responsibilities

  • Follow a highly regulated sterilization process on surgical instruments.
  • Prepare sterile consumables through decontamination, inspection, and packing.

  • Operate and monitor sterilization machines safely.
  • Record repairs and missing instruments on tracking system.

Job description
Overview

career with STERIS Instrument Processing would be a great fit for you. This is a weekend-only role with working hours from 8pm to 6am on Saturdays and Sundays. During your first 12 weeks you will be training and the working hours may be slightly different; this will be discussed with you at interview.

Responsibilities
  • Following a highly regulated end to end sterilization/decontamination process on surgical instruments that have been used in operations in local NHS and private hospitals, to ensure they can be used again safely for the next patient.
  • Ensuring the effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, surgical instruments, and equipment) by the process of decontamination, inspection, assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.
  • Rigorously checking, washing, laying up and packing sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.
  • Safely operating and monitoring machines and equipment (washers/disinfectors, ultrasonic and sterilizers) effectively.
  • Ensuring that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak).
  • Ensuring that repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trust's appointed person.
