Job summary

A family-run engineering firm in St Albans is seeking a Steel Structures Draughtsman to produce accurate technical drawings and 3D models for structural steel projects. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in steel drafting, proficiency in AutoCAD, and strong attention to detail. This role involves close collaboration with engineers and workshop teams to ensure designs meet industry standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a steel structural draftsman / detailer.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, knowledge of Tekla Structures desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate technical drawings and models for structural steel projects.
• Ensure drawings comply with BS EN 1090-2 and CE marking.
• Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for steel components.

Skills

Proven experience as a steel structural draftsman / detailer

Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD essential)

Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes

Good communication skills
