Responsibilities
  • Your main responsibility will be the clinical care of children and young people who are inpatients on Rays of Sunshine Ward.
  • This will involve the development, nurturing and utilisation of excellent clinical skills and abilities, in the delivery of care to paediatric patients with liver and gastro conditions.
  • This position will also give you the opportunity to work within an international, tertiary service that is fast‑paced, challenging but ultimately very rewarding.
  • You will need to thrive on working in a dynamic environment; willing to support and guide students; demonstrate self‑motivation and work well in a team.

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are looking to recruit experienced Band 5 Paediatric Staff Nurses for Rays of Sunshine Ward.

King's College Hospital boasts the busiest paediatric liver centre in Europe, treating more than 3,000 children a year and is an extensive teaching hospital, at the forefront of academic and nursing excellence. Rays of Sunshine is our 18 bedded paediatric ward which treats a wide range of liver associated illnesses such as biliary atresia, hepatitis and liver tumours and cares for children and young people in acute liver failure. Our world‑renowned paediatric service also specialises in liver and intestinal transplantation. From a nursing perspective, Rays of Sunshine offers a mix of both medical and surgical patient care. The ward has strong relationships with the broader multidisciplinary team such as our liver clinical nurse specialists and transplant coordinators. The nursing team are skilled to deliver an exceptionally high standard of care to dependent children and their families. No previous liver experience is required as we offer in‑house training and support., The Trust provides a full range of local and specialist services across its five sites.
