Job Summary

Band 5 Staff Nurse – Mental Health Services

Location: Ramsey unit, Barrow-in-Furness – Dane Garth

We are excited to be able to advertise for a Band 5 Mental Health Nurse to join the team on Ramsey unit, Dane Garth. As a staff nurse you will work alongside the multi‑disciplinary team to provide a high standard of care to those individuals who are within the most acute phase of illness, ensuring that all aspects of care are delivered.

You will need effective communication skills and will be required to take on the roles of shift leader and named nurse. You will be regularly supported and supervised by a more senior member of staff and a preceptorship is available if required. We are committed to staff development and provide encouragement and support to staff to continue their lifelong learning.

Main Duties

The successful post holder will be expected to work shifts covering 24 hours, seven days a week.

Note: This post is subject to an enhanced DBS clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide high standard care to individuals in the most acute phase of mental illness.
• Act as shift leader and named nurse when required.
• Ensure that all aspects of care are delivered in line with policies.
• Receive regular support and supervision from senior staff.

Qualifications & Experience

• Registered Mental Health Nurse Qualification (RNMH & RNLD).
• Ongoing registration with the NMC.
• Evidence of continued professional development that supports clinical practice.
• Post‑graduate experience.
• Experience of working within a multi‑disciplinary team structure.
• Experience of assessing, planning, implementing and reviewing care needs.
• Knowledge of mental health conditions and their treatments.
• Working knowledge of physical health conditions and the complications that can arise in patients experiencing mental ill‑health.
