Job description
Overview

Staff Nurse - Haematology Transplant Unit
The Christie Private Care, Manchester
Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Permanent
Salary: Competitive dependent upon experience + 9% shift enhancement.

We're looking for a Staff Nurse to join our Haematology Transplant Unit Nursing Team, at The Christie Private Care, currently rated "Outstanding" by the CQC.

HCA Healthcare UK has developed a dedicated private centre in partnership with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester. The Christie Private Care treats private patients with a full range of diagnostic, inpatient, surgical, day case and outpatient treatment all on one site. We individualise care to the need of each patient, providing full treatment plans from diagnostic assessments to surgery, chemotherapy and anti-cancer drug therapies, radiotherapy and supportive care.

As a Staff Nurse you\'ll be working as part of an experienced nursing team to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate high standards of specialist care to ensure that patients are cared for in a safe, caring and comfortable environment. Day-to-day you\'ll work on a variety of complex cases, but also with the very latest treatment, tools and techniques - allowing you to provide the best possible care for your patients.

The haematology unit enables nurses to deliver high standards of holistic care to their patients as we run on a low nurse to patient ratio (1:3). We deal with patients who have a variety of haematological malignancies, including the delivery of systemic anti-cancer treatments for acute leukaemia, high grade lymphomas and multiple myeloma and managing side effects of these treatments. The unit also delivers stem cell transplants (both allograft and autograft) and is JACIE accredited jointly with the Christie Trust haematology transplant programme. We are developing innovative CAR T cell treatments and bispecific therapies in the near future.

To support clinical excellence, the unit has a clinical practice facilitator who leads an education programme, including basic and advanced cell therapy study days and opportunities to attend national and international conferences in relation to haematology. We also have 2.5 haematology cancer nurse specialists who support patients and staff on the unit. Patient care is consultant led with a 24/7 team of Resident Doctors, and we are supported by a critical care outreach team for deteriorating patients.

What you\'ll bring:

  • Registered General Nurse with valid NMC pin
  • Experience working in an NHS or Private Hospital Ward setting
  • Post registration experience within a haematology or oncology setting is essential
