This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an excellent team on the Children and Young People\'s ward at the West Cumberland Hospital. The successful applicant would be a key member of the multidisciplinary team, responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based, family-centred care to infants, children, and young people admitted to the 14-bed Children and Young people\'s ward.
The role is to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care in line with Trust policies and professional standards, ensuring safe and compassionate care is provided at all times. Further the post holder will meet the physical, emotional, and developmental needs of children and their families within the hospital setting, where nurses must be flexible and competent across multiple paediatric specialities.
If you have any further questions about this post, please do not hesitate to contact Joanne Fidler, Ward Manager on 01946 523704.
The ward plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, holistic care to infants, children, and young people up to the age of 16 (or 18 for specific conditions). The 14-bed ward provides care for a wide range of patients, including those who are acutely unwell with medical conditions, those undergoing elective surgical procedures, children and young people with mental health conditions and children that require safeguarding input. We are also a level one shared care oncology centre providing treatment for children/young people with cancer in collaboration with our tertiary centre. In addition to inpatient care, the ward supports early diagnosis and intervention through ward attender appointments and rapid access clinics, which provide timely assessments and reduce the need for emergency admissions. The ward operates within a multidisciplinary framework and aims to provide family-centred care that is safe, timely, and responsive to the needs of the local paediatric population.
