Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing and drafting mechanical assemblies, supporting the manufacturing floor, and providing technical assistance to the sales team.

What You'll Do

  • Develop innovative mechanical and process designs in CAD to meet product requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to understand their production needs and quality expectations.
  • Process models, drawings, and manufacturing instructions through Innovent's ERP (Epicor) and document control system.
  • Facilitates and develops physical products through prototype production, assembly and testing.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of machining, metalworking principles, and assembly procedures to evaluate and support the manufacturing of newly designed or modified products.
  • Understand and improve the manufacturability of component designs.
  • Access technical information (i.e. process records, model drawings, SOP's, tool and fixture drawings) as needed to evaluate and support product design operations.
  • Develop drawings with GD&T from solid models.
  • Demonstrate ability to understand supplier capability and specialties in the manufacture of components and tooling to required specifications.
  • Provide technical assistance to component and tooling suppliers.
  • Assist production in the resolution of manufacturing problems to maintain production schedules.
  • Infrequent travel up to 10%.
  • Consist in and maintains 5S Standards.
  • Engages in and actively volunteers for Continuous Improvement projects/tasks.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 10+ years' mechanical engineering experience required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree and experience requirement.
  • Must be U.S. Citizen.

What We Value

  • Strongly skilled user of mechanical CAD software, preferably CREO/PRO-E
  • experience with Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook and Teams.
  • Practical experience with mechanisms and machine design.
  • Experience designing & detailing precision metal parts and mechanical assemblies
  • Experience with or desire to learn CNC programming/ CAM
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and create mechanical drawings and technical procedures.
  • Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturing (DFM).
  • Ability to write reports and procedures, and effectively present information to team members and management.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Ability to manage uncertainty in a logical and organized manner.

  • Frequently lifts up to 25 pounds
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required in designated areas.
