Senior Associate - Professional & Financial Risks - Bristol - 5+ Years PQE

Location: Bristol (Hybrid)
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £70,000 - £90,000 (depending on experience)

A highly regarded law firm is seeking a Senior Associate (5+ years PQE) to join its Professional & Financial Risks (PFR) team in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a top-ranked team (Chambers & Partners and Legal 500) handling complex professional indemnity litigation and advisory work for leading insurers and professional services firms.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for managing a varied caseload of professional indemnity claims and related matters, including:

  • Defending liability claims pre- and post-litigation
  • Advising on regulatory issues, risk management, and Ombudsman complaints
  • Handling policy coverage issues for insurers
  • Working on matters involving a wide range of professions, with claim values from tens of thousands to multi-millions
  • Delivering high-quality, timely outputs to clients in line with service level agreements
  • Contributing to the development and improvement of team processes and procedures
  • Capturing and collating management information for clients
  • Supporting business development initiatives and client relationship management
  • Coaching and developing junior team members
Candidate Requirements
  • 5+ years PQE in professional indemnity litigation (insurance experience desirable but not essential)
  • Strong knowledge of legal procedures and litigation processes
  • Ability to deliver legal and commercial solutions collaboratively with clients and colleagues
  • Proven track record of managing and developing client relationships
  • Commitment to business development and identifying commercial opportunities
  • Commercial mindset with awareness of pricing, resourcing, and profitability
  • Leadership skills with experience coaching junior team members
  • Strong organisational skills and efficiency
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and legal IT systems
