Job Title: Speech & Language Therapist (ADOS-2 / ADI-R) - Newcastle

Location: Newcastle (Hybrid options available)

Role: Permanent

Salary: £35,000 - £85,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Specialising in high-quality neurodevelopmental and psychological assessments for adults and children, they also provide expert witness services for courts, parole boards, and cases in criminal/prison law, family law, immigration law, and medico-legal settings. With a strong reputation for excellence, they consistently deliver on NHS contracts and are trusted by clients across the region.

The Role

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-paced service, making a real difference by providing essential assessments for families and adults. As part of the Neurodevelopmental Assessment Team, you will focus on children referred via NHS Patient Choice and GP pathways for autism and/or ADHD assessments.

This flexible role offers hybrid working options. Hybrid roles require travel to the Newcastle office. Senior positions are open to candidates with advanced expertise.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting specialist diagnostic assessments for autism and/or ADHD using recognised tools, with occasional mental health assessments as needed.
  • Producing timely, professional assessment reports with tailored recommendations and interventions.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding care.
  • Supporting and supervising junior staff (depending on experience).

Assessments are primarily NHS-funded via GP referrals, and some duties can be performed remotely, offering flexibility for the right candidate.

Qualifications & Skills
  • HCPC-registered Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Relevant Degree
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Proven experience conducting diagnostic neurodevelopmental or specialist developmental assessments with children and young people.
  • Clinical experience working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders or mental health challenges.
  • Strong knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and relevant assessment tools for autism and ADHD.
  • Understanding of differential diagnosis.
  • Ideally trained in ADOS-2 and/or ADI‑R
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a flair for detailed report writing and record‑keeping.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Additional qualifications in autism, ADHD, or related fields are a plus.
  • Experience or interest in providing clinical supervision (integral to senior roles).
