Job description
Overview

Bridge Learning Campus is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic SALT HLTA to join our Primary SEND Department and to support the progression of our pupils on the SEND register. This is a full-time maternity cover from a date to be agreed at the interview – but as soon as possible. Hours: Mon – Fri, 37 hours per week, 8:15am - 4:15pm Monday - Thursday, 8:15am - 3:45pm Friday. Contract: Term Time Only Plus Insets (Maternity Leave Cover up until April 2026). Start Date: As soon as possible. Interviews: Friday 3rd October 2025.

Bridge Learning Campus offers an all‑through setting with opportunities for professional development. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the SEND Department and work with staff who are committed to high standards and initiative.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake screenings, directed by the SALT/SENDCO, to assess the needs of students and develop interventions and strategies to support using specialist skills.
  • Provide verbal feedback to students and staff regarding progress and achievement.
  • Within an agreed supervision system, plan challenging teaching and learning objectives and evaluate and adjust lessons/work plans as appropriate.
  • Monitor and evaluate student responses to learning activities through a range of assessment methods against learning objectives.
  • Provide objective and accurate feedback and written reports on student achievement and progress, contributing to EHCPs, Pupil Passports, Annual Reviews and Pupil Learning Plans as required, with appropriate evidence.
  • Maintain accurate records of support.
  • Deliver training and mentoring for other support staff under the direction of the SALT/SENDCO.
  • Hold regular team meetings with other appropriate staff.
  • Deliver whole class sessions relating to SALT, e.g. vocabulary sessions.
  • Plan and deliver bespoke learning activities for children under the guidance of the SENDCO/SALT.
  • Deliver statutory provisions related to a child’s EHCP for communication and interaction under the guidance of the SENDCO/SALT.
  • Contribute to meetings with outside professionals linked to a child’s EHCP (e.g., Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Visual Impairment Teacher, Teacher of the Deaf).
  • Attend and contribute to liaison meetings with SALT for core referrals.
  • Provide 1:1 support for assessments for identified children with EHCPs or significant SALT needs.
Job Requirements
  • HLTA qualification (or awaiting confirmation).
  • 5 GCSEs at grade C/Level 4 or above or equivalent including English and Maths.
  • At least 2 years’ experience working with children in education.
  • Experience working with specific types of SEN.
  • Ability to undertake a range of teaching activities with confidence, working with individuals, groups and whole classes.
  • Ability to contribute to assessment and monitoring of pupil progress.
