A healthcare provider is seeking an experienced Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join its Head and Neck team in York. Qualifications

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent.
  • Current registration with HCPC and membership of RCSLT.
  • Experience working with adults with complex swallowing and communication needs.
  • Previous NHS experience.
  • Experience in head and neck caseload management is desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Deliver specialist speech and language therapy assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with head and neck disorders.
  • Provide expert input for patients with voice, swallowing, and communication needs, including those undergoing cancer treatment.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including ENT, oncology, dietetics, and nursing staff to deliver coordinated and effective care.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to documentation, audit, and service evaluation in line with NHS and HCPC standards.
  • Participate in patient and carer education, providing advice and training on communication and swallowing management.
  • Support junior staff and students as appropriate, promoting evidence-based practice within the service.

You’ll be an empathetic and confident Speech and Language Therapist with a strong clinical background in adult communication and swallowing disorders. Experience within head and neck services or oncology settings is highly desirable.
