Qualifications

  • Experience with SEND as a Teaching Assistant or Support Worker is beneficial.

About the Role

This rewarding, classroom-based role offers the chance to support children and young people in developing essential communication skills that will last a lifetime. Working closely with teachers and therapists, you'll help create a safe, structured and engaging learning environment where pupils feel understood, supported and able to thrive.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups to develop their expressive and receptive language
  • Using PECS, Makaton, and visual resources to promote understanding and independence
  • Encouraging positive social interaction and emotional regulation through clear, consistent routines
  • Implementing strategies recommended by Speech and Language Therapists and teaching staff
  • Fostering a warm, trusting atmosphere that helps pupils grow in confidence and communication
Who You Are

This role would suit:

  • Psychology, Education or Speech & Language graduates
  • Experienced Teaching Assistants or Support Workers with SEND experience
  • Parents, carers or individuals with lived experience of communication needs

  • Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm, term time only

If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
