Job summary

A UK-based healthcare provider located in Great Yarmouth is seeking a dynamic Specialty Doctor in General Surgery to join their team. This role involves supporting junior trainees, managing surgical emergencies, and participating in departmental audits. The position is fixed-term for 12 months, starting from March 2026. The ideal candidate must be fully GMC registered and possess MRCS or equivalent qualification.

Job description
Job Summary

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Specialty Doctor in General Surgery to join our friendly and enthusiastic surgery team at the James Paget University Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support junior trainee colleagues and provide on‑call surgical cover during day/night shifts.
  • Assist with day‑to‑day ward running, theatre sessions, outpatient clinics and admission/discharge under consultant supervision.
  • Conduct morning ward rounds and manage surgical emergencies admitted the previous night.
  • Tackle routine and emergency care of surgical patients and learn advanced surgical procedures.
  • Participate in departmental audits, teaching activities and recruitment for new trials.
  • Develop management skills in running successful MDT sessions.
Qualifications
  • Fully GMC registered with a licence to practice.
  • MRCS or equivalent essential.
  • Working knowledge of the English language.
Fixed Term Details

The post is a fixed term 12 months from March 2026 until March 2027.
