A leading University Teaching Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a Specialty Doctor to support their Medical Division in Older Adults. The candidate will assess, treat, and discharge elderly patients while promoting effective communication and working within a multidisciplinary team. Applicants should have experience in both General and Geriatric Medicine along with Full GMC registration. This is a 12-month role that includes participation in educational activities and flexible working requests.
Applications are invited for a Specialty Doctor to support our Medical Division in Older Adults. This post is available with immediate effect for a period of 12 months and will specifically support our inpatient wards and Frail Elderly Assessment Unit (FEAU).
The Trust is a University Teaching Hospital with its own Medical School and a newly built Academic Complex. You must have experience in General (Internal) Medicine and Geriatric Medicine; be comfortable in the initial assessment and on‑going treatment of acutely ill, adult medical patients with a wide variety of pathology. You will work under consultant supervision and within a dedicated team at all times.
The post holder will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing clinical care to older patients and will work with consultants, specialist registrars, Trust grades, foundation doctors, GP trainees and advanced nurse practitioners. Weekend on‑call is required on a 1:6 rota between 0900hrs and 1700hrs, including bank holidays.

If you are currently in the UK on a visa, you must have at least six months remaining on your visa at the time of your start date to ensure sufficient time for the operational and training process associated with the role. The requirement of at least six months remaining does not apply to a Skilled Worker Visa; a new Skilled Worker Visa would be required for a new role.

The Trust has two sites – Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital. The post holder may be required to rotate to County Hospital. The department includes 8 substantive consultants at Royal Stoke and 1 at County. The post holder will join a team of 3 other specialty doctors and 10 Trust Grade doctors, in addition to trainee doctors.
University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) is the teaching hospital for Keele University Medical School. The post holder will gain experience teaching undergraduate medical school students and will participate in departmental educational meetings, audits, mortality meetings and hospital grand rounds.
