Job description

We have the opportunity to recruit a Specialist Physiotherapist to our Paediatric MSK and Orthopaedic team.

As a member of the team, you will be contributing to the MSK Paediatric Service and may be involved in community Clinics, Outpatients Physiotherapy Clinics on site and MDT Consultant led services. You will be responsible for liaising with other external services including Schools, Community therapy teams and GPs to ensure seamless care for our patients.

As a member of our team, you will have access to well-equipped gym areas and hydrotherapy facilities as well as access to specialists in various paediatric and adult MSK areas. We offer flexible working patterns (where possible) and actively support the ongoing development of our team members.

This post may be offered as a transitional Band 6 to Band 7 post with the post holder supported to achieve the suitable competencies required for the Band 7 level.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working within the paediatric outpatients department and paediatric orthopaedics outpatient clinics
  • Working as part of the larger team and fulfilling commitments to our satellite clinics, community locations and inpatient settings within the Paediatric MSK service
  • Performing advanced specialist physiotherapeutic assessment and treatment of paediatric patients with orthopaedic, musculoskeletal, rheumatological and long term conditions involving complex physical and psychological presentations
  • Engaging with a range of other professionals within a multidisciplinary care setting including joint clinic working
  • Acting independently and without supervision as an autonomous practitioner
  • Undertaking management roles including co-ordinating workloads, delegating duties, appraising and mentoring staff, recruitment and selection and deputising for the team leader in their absence
  • Being actively involved in the development of the Paediatric Musculoskeletal team and Physiotherapy service as a whole
  • Maintaining specialist orthopaedic physiotherapy competency in order to participate in our weekend service
  • Leading audit and research projects within the paediatric musculoskeletal speciality
